Essential Reference Works
This book draws on four essential services, namely:
Historical climate data, available from the International Station
Meteorological Climate Summary CDROM, were essential for tabulating leisure
thermal comfort and precipitation values.
Motivation for writing this book as well as information to guide its writing
is due primarily to the work of Professor P.O. Fanger, Department of Energy
Engineering, Technical University of Denmark (E-mail: fanger@et.dtu.dk).
Quarterly
black globe temperature isotherm maps, prepared by Gulf Weather Corporation,
enabled adjustment of thermal comfort estimates by accounting for the effect of
sunshine.
Technical
information available from the ASHRAE* Handbook of Fundamentals
played an overall important role. In the sense that previously acknowledged
contributions might represent bricks within a conceptual structure, the ASHRAE
Handbook of Fundamentals represents the mortar that binds these bricks
together.
Other Contributions
Technical review and proofreading of anothers work does not imply approval or endorsement of the work nor even that all errors of omission or commission are extracted. I claim full responsibility and apologize for any residual errors.
